Lego NES Restocked At Amazon, Sold Out Everywhere Else
The elusive Lego Nintendo Entertainment System is back in stock at Amazon. Despite being over four years old–it was in the first batch of Lego Nintendo releases in 2020–this set remains exceedingly popular today. Dubbed “hard to find” by Lego, the Lego NES is sold out at Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and the Lego Store. Amazon is the only major retailer that has it available for purchase. With Lego set to release a Game Boy build later this year, the NES will probably be even more popular in the coming months.
Amazon has also restocked Lego Mighty Bowser, which is the only Nintendo-themed building set with more pieces (2,807) than the NES. Plus, the most recent Lego Super Mario display model for adults, the Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi build, has received a rare discount at Amazon.
$270
At 2,646 pieces, this is a highly detailed Lego set that’ll keep you busy for a few lengthy building sessions. It took us around 10 hours to piece together the two main builds. Along with the scaled model of the NES console, you’ll piece construct a CRT TV with a display stand, wired NES controller, and Super Mario Bros. cartridge. The console even has a control deck for the cartridge as well as a very cool Easter Egg that should delight longtime fans of the series.
Better yet, there’s a handle on the side of the TV that moves an 8-bit Mario character across a side-scrolling level. If you happen to own one of the Interactive Figures from the Adventures with Lego Super Mario starter courses, there’s even more functionality for you to enjoy–he can be perched on top of the TV to react to the on-screen action.
The Lego NES is a great build to put together alongside a fellow fan. It includes two thick instruction books, so one builder can focus on the console while the other builds the CRT. A digital copy of the instructions can be pulled up on the Lego Builder app.
You’ll also get an illustrated booklet discussing the creation of the NES and iconic NES games.
For a Lego Nintendo display model that’s significantly kinder on the wallet, take a look at the 540-piece Super Mario Piranha Plant, which is on sale for $48 (was $60).
If you’re a Zelda fan, the first Lego set based on the iconic Nintendo series arrived at major retailers earlier this month. The 2,500-piece Great Deku Tree is the priciest in the Lego Nintendo lineup at $300, but it is a 2-in-1 model that lets you choose between Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild builds. The set comes with four minifigures. My Best Buy Plus/Total members can save $30 on Lego’s Great Deku Tree.
More Lego Nintendo Sets for Adults
Like the Lego NES, the Mario-themed sets listed above interact with figures from the Lego Super Mario starter kits–and since they’re discounted right now, it’s not a bad time to add one to your collection.
Mario, Luigi, and Peach Interactive Figures are also highly recommended to those interested in the newly released Lego Mario Kart lineup, which you can check out at the links below:
